Server maintenance
This involves “de-fragmenting” the server’s
storage and cleaning all the log files, removing
any loads that are “over working” the server. In
short, this will result in the server running
more smoothly and also more reliably.
Backup of Server held data
This refers to the identity of the “user files”
such as word docs, excel, etc… and also any
server “core” files that will be needed in the
event of a server restore.
Increased Server Security
1. Installing client logging (Informs you who is
using the server and when)
2. Eliminating security loopholes (Closing any
security holes to stop unauthorised access to
the server by internal and external means)
3. Installing management systems (This automates
many basic maintenance tasks)
4. File system report (Access Control List – a
list of users who are authorised and allowed
access to certain non critical files on your
system)
Identifying network configuration errors
Any errors or misconfiguration discovered will
be resolved where possible.
